The international growth strategy is paying off
“We are going from strength to strength. After being included in the SDAX, our admission to the TecDAX in March 2022 was a further confirmation that we are on the right track. We are proud of the fact that we have achieved our next milestone – admission to the MDAX – faster than had been expected. We at VERBIO worked hard together to achieve this success. For many years now we have followed a strict course of actively investing in new markets on both the geographic and product sides, and this strategy has been rewarded. We chose the right path. Now we have to assert our position in the MDAX. A major task that we approach with ambition,” said Claus Sauter, Chairman of the Management Board.
VERBIO continues its growth trend with a series of new records
On June 30, 2022 VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG ended the financial year 2021/2022 with record results for the fourth successive year. Group revenue was almost doubled compared to the previous year, increasing to EUR 1,812.5 million (previous year: EUR 1,026.0 million), significantly above the one billion mark which was achieved for the first time in the previous financial year 2020/21.
As part of its ongoing internationalisation VERBIO has continuously expanded its presence in the growth markets of North America and India. Following the successful commissioning of the first expansion phase of our biorefinery in Nevada (Iowa, USA) in the spring of 2022 the Group focusses on the installation of a bioethanol production in the USA. At the same time VERBIO is examining further growth projects, including expansion of the biomethane production as well as manufacturing green hydrogen and synthetic methane. In addition, Southeast Asia, Central America and South America are increasingly part of the Group’s strategic focus, given the wide range of raw materials available in those regions.
The Group’s management has laid the foundation for such investments. “In organisational terms we are prepared for significant growth in future. We have expanded the Management Board by adding a CFO, and responsibilities in the Management Board have been redistributed with a stronger focus on regional criteria. In addition, we are in the process of increasing the size of our international team by more than 100 employees by the middle of next year,” explained Claus Sauter.
Admission to the MDAX
The MDAX includes the 50 largest companies by market capitalization traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange below the 40 companies included in the main DAX index. All the companies included in these indices meet comprehensive transparency requirements, have their headquarters in Germany, and have a free float of at least 10 percent. The criteria used to determine the promotion from the SDAX to the MDAX is the market capitalization of the shares in free float. VERBIO continues to be listed in the TecDAX as one of Germany’s largest technology companies. VERBIO has been included in the TecDAX since March 2022.
