Livonia, MI (May 19, 2021): With the scheduled commissioning of VERBIO Nevada’s RNG production as of September, VERBIO will complete one of the key milestones of its initial strategic vision related to our expansion in the US market. The completion of Phase I of what will become a biorefinery, producing 28 million EGE (Ethanol Gallons Equivalent) of Renewable Natural Gas and 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol as announced in March 2021, marks a dramatic acceleration of VERBIO’s presence and was made possible by the strong technical and financial support of our parent company in Germany.
These developments are being supported by the creation of a new corporate entity, VERBIO NA Holdings Corp (VNAH), which will manage and oversee the company’s operating assets, while all commercial responsibilities will remain with VERBIO North America (VNA). Greg Northrup, President and CEO of VNA will become the President and CEO of VNAH, effective July 1, 2021; he will continue to provide oversight and leadership to the company’s North American operations, focusing on its expanding involvement in public and governmental policies affecting the renewable energy industry.
The production of RNG beginning in September and the future production of corn-based ethanol, along with the current commercial responsibilities for the company’s Welland, Ontario biodiesel plant, require strong new leadership; it will be provided by Andrea Valerio, who will become President and CEO of VERBIO North America effective June 1, 2021. In announcing Valerio’s addition to VERBIO’s management team, Stefan Schreiber, COO North America, VERBIO AG, stated, “Andrea is a recognized industry leader with an excellent commercial background and experience in the renewable biofuels industry, both internationally and domestically.” He went on to say, “this represents a significant strengthening of our North American team.”
Valerio comes to VERBIO from Castleton Commodities International, where he most recently served as Executive Director, Origination and Trading. Prior to that, he has held executive leadership positions with Mercuria Energy Trading Inc, Noble Group and ENI, both in the USA and Europe. He has extensive experience in management and trading of biofuels, ethers, automotive fuels, but also in supply, refining and complex distribution systems.
VERBIO North America Corporation (VNA), with headquarters in Livonia, Michigan, is developing and will own, operate and finance multiple RNG plants in the United States using VERBIO’s technology and financing. RNG produced by VERBIO Nevada will be injected into the natural gas transmission system and sold to CNG/LNG filling stations or fleets for use as transportation fuel. Ethanol production is scheduled to become operational in late 2022.The formation of VERBIO NA Holdings, Corp, will become effective July 1, 2021.
